Memories of grandpa are always sure to be interesting..... while grandpa was tarring the roof one smoldering hot day, I was pushed in the pool and hit my chin on the edge. As blood flowed, my feet flew to grandpa sobbing in tears. He looked at me and said " No need to cry just clean yourself up" This is great advice; the rag full of tar however was not the greatest of solutions.

Grandpa was larger than life to me and pretty much anyone that stood close enough to him. While attending elementry school, grandpa was driving a school bus and he LOVED IT! I don't think he liked it as much as I did though. While children ran to their busses to get home, I ran to my own bus! He would pull up and wait for one passenger, me, and I couldn't express how great of a feeling it was to see him gleem with that huge smile. I would bring him tiny toys to put in his little collection of others found on the bus. While at stop signs I would set a ball at the front and he would floor it while I chased it and he laughed...these are memories that will keep him close to my heart forever.

I Love you Grandpa and tell grandma her little greek baby is doing great!

Charles Less His AT 6 October 17, 2012

I never saw Dads AT 6. According to Mom he bought this WW II high horsepower trainer, read the manual, climbed in and took off. He only had a few flying lessons before his first fligh in it. He told me about loosing the engine once and landing in a corn field.

from his very few stores and him taking me to see The Mc Connell Story, I began to dream about flying. I built model airplanes in the barn and crashed many of them. I didn't get to live my dream until I was in my 30s. Now at 63 I am still in the air.

The song in the Mc Connell story " off we go into the wild blue yonder" rings through my ears. I often sing it before going off  to the airport.

Dad would tell me what it was like to climb up several thousand feet, throw open the canope and listen to the wind in the very clear sky. You do feel like you are close to heaven doing this. I have felt the experience and done similar things dancing just over the clouds. This is heaven for me and I now know Dad is there. I will be thinking of him every time I am allowed to dance with the clouds.

I took dad to Oshkosh, the largest experimental fly in in the world. We saw an old AT 6 on display and chated with the owner. I could not believe how much dat knew about the plane. The flight manual was committed to his memory. As we talked, the owner told us that he had trouble fretting tires for the old bird. He mentioned the cost of a single tire. One tire cost today more then dad paid for the plane.

I dont really remember any funny or significant moments with grandpa, i just remember the way he spoke and what he would say. He always called me brookie, and would always start his sentances that way when he would talk to me. I thought it was the funniest thing ever when aunt pattie called him dadio! my mom would go on and on about stories of grandpa and grandma, like when she got the little stuffed bear (because she was the widdle baby of the famiwy), or when she went somewhere with her friend when she wasnt supposed to and he came looking for her, so she hid under the the docks. he was right above her, and he never said a word about it when she got home. My favorite one is when he came in with his shotgun and said he killed rudolph. Rest in paradise grandpa! I love you with all of my heart!
