Life story
October 16, 2012

In Sycamore I was all alone.  A little girl of five.
I helped cook and clean, so Mom and Dad
could work and help us all survive.
Dad was a handsome cop in his uniform so blue.
And every girl had a crush on him that was very true.
Along came Chuckie.  The little tow headed Prince
and though I was happy to have a bro,
I now felt pretty deprived.
Dad was fair. He was good.  And only once in a
while I was taken behind the wood shed.
Mom was beautiful and they were quite a pair.
When they entered a room there were all those stares.
We moved from the city to a farm and Chuckie
I were much alarmed.
But we learned to love everything there.  The world was
sweet and we did our share.
We worked in the fields days and night, Dad by our
side, and yes once in a while Chuckie and I still did fight.
Pigs and chickens, cattle and lambs. We learned about
nature from a real point of view.
Then in school we said, oh that's nothing new!
Patti was next to come along.  A little blonde angel,
she wrapped Dad around her little finger.
She stole all our hearts and at Dad's last breaths,
she did linger.
Dorie was the last to come and a big surprise.  When the Doc
called Mom to say, you're pregnant in seven months or more.
All hell broke loose that night in the town of Wheeling.
When Dad came home she slammed the door.
But all was forgiven when that little baby girl came home.
From the very beginning she was never alone.
The memories that we all have and share, of parents
full of love and care.
We will miss them both.  For they were
always there.
